Tempered glass (also called safety glass or toughened glass) is manufactured through a process of extreme
much harder than normal glass. Tempered glass is four to five times stronger than standard glass.
The thermal process that cures tempered glass also makes it heat resistant. Some examples that tempered
glass is used include windows in ovens, door windows, and shower doors. Building codes also require the
unframed doors and windows of many public and private structures (i.e. Libraries, department stores) to be
made of tempered glass.
